Pizza enthusiasts love the Slice app and its new features

Slice — the innovative tech platform powering America’s local pizzerias — today announced a new tool that will help the over 14,000 local pizzerias in the Slice network increase their orders and strengthen their business. Early tests of the new tool, Pizzeria Score, show that this feature can help double or even triple orders as well as foster more loyal customers. Pizzeria Score adds to the number of investments Slice has made recently to bolster independent pizzerias and to truly keep local thriving.

“Pizzeria Score will allow the over 14,000 shops in our network to up-level their offerings and see where they can improve."

By virtue of its massive network, Slice has the data to understand what drives success for pizzerias. Pizzeria Score is the latest addition to Slice’s suite of proprietary technology designed to optimize small businesses. The tool delivers a seamless way to extend Slice’s insights through a one-of-a-kind scoring system. Shop owners who partner with Slice are individually graded on crucial business practices such as branding, online and app ordering, personalized marketing, and customer service. Along with their results, shop owners are given the detailed instructions and resources needed to improve their score and ultimately their business with the click of a button.

“Pizzeria Score will allow the over 14,000 shops in our network to up-level their offerings and see where they can improve,” said Preethy Vaidyanathan, Chief Product Officer at Slice. “Our plan for 2021 is to help as many shops as possible increase their score. We’re going all in on this new feature, providing both the tools and step-by-step guidance needed to drive success, and we expect the local pizzeria owners to see a sizable return.”

Shops rank in one of four categories on Pizzeria Score: Okay, Good, Great, All Star. As a shop moves through the ranks, they can see a difference not only in the number of orders they receive, but in the quality of the orders and repeat customers. Unlike third party delivery aggregator apps that are focused only on users and not small businesses, Slice works with pizzerias to build consumer loyalty. Slice is focused on delivering larger orders to shops and focusing on neighborhood customers who become repeat shop patrons month after month.

"Pizzeria Score is a great way for our business to gauge how we are doing with our customers and where we can improve our business,” said Gilda Bilardello, Owner of Ralph’s Slices in Farmingdale, NY. “Slice is by far the most helpful tool for small businesses on the market today. They go above and beyond and really try to partner with you to help you grow your business.”

Since the start of the pandemic, Slice has launched a number of initiatives to help small businesses and keep local thriving. Earlier this month, Slice launched a $4 million ad campaign in the northeast, highlighting local businesses and driving more consumers to these shops. In September, Slice launched Slice Accelerate, a new ongoing program that will initially include hundreds of shops that will receive $15,000 each worth of technology and services to strengthen their businesses, helping to make them pandemic-proof and set up for future success by enabling them to compete against big pizza franchises and the predatory practices of third party apps — including surge pricing that significantly diminishes margins, false advertising about pricing and availability, and zero culpability when it comes to customer service. Also launched in September, Slice Delivery, an add-on service for shops without in-house delivery that also allows the pizzeria to set their own delivery pricing is being utilized by over 2,000 shops in the network.

Slice removed fees to shops on orders under $10, and the company was one of the first to add contact-free delivery, cash-free ordering, and curbside pick-up into its product to keep both restaurant workers and customers safe. In March, Slice moved quickly to launch Pizza vs. Pandemic with Slice Out Hunger, an initiative that continues to feed front line care workers while providing sizable orders to independent pizzerias, now in all 50 states.

Slice transforms independent pizzerias with the specialized technology, marketing, data insights, and shared services they need, all at a low fixed cost per order, to serve today’s digital-minded customers. Enabling these small businesses to thrive against major corporate chains, Slice makes it easy for customers to order from their go-to shops and discover their next favorite. Serial tech entrepreneur Ilir Sela started Slice to solve the digital challenges of his family’s New York City pizzerias. Today, the company partners with over 14,000 pizzerias across 3,000 cities in all 50 states forming the nation’s largest marketplace for authentic pizza.
