L3Harris Technologies supplying radio tech to Super Bowl LIV first responders

L3Harris Technologies is partnering with the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee and supplying advanced radio technology being used by first responders protecting Super Bowl LIV on February 2, 2020.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, L3Harris supports first responders across the U.S. and around the world by providing mission-critical communication solutions – including mobile and portable radios and dispatch solutions – to industry, federal, state and local government agencies as they respond to large-scale events.

The company has provided essential emergency equipment and systems to South Florida law enforcement and public safety officers for more than 50 years. Public safety officials in more than 20 Florida counties rely on L3Harris’ P25 communications networks and Land Mobile Radio solutions for their daily public safety operations and critical communications. Notable L3Harris customers in South Florida include the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Miami Beach, City of West Palm Beach, Aventura, Coral Gables and Hialeah.

The L3Harris P25 800 MHz radio system in Miami-Dade County is one of the largest in the nation and provides daily public safety communications for nearly 100 agencies and 32,000 users, serving 2.5 million people. The system processes more than five million transmissions per month and supports the day-to-day communications for state, federal and tribal agencies in South Florida. These and other technologies, enable first responders to connect and better protect the public in a variety of circumstances, including events as large as Super Bowl LIV.
