AT&T helps fans get 'tech ready' for Monday's big game

Football fans maybe in for a big surprise on Monday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Thousands of college football fans will pour into Atlanta’s new stadium ready to watch the University of Alabama and University of Georgia play for the College Football Playoff National Championship. At AT&T, we’ve made it easier than ever for fans to share all the thrills of the big game with friends and family right from their fingertips.

As a proud sponsor of the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, AT&T wants customers to enjoy the best possible game day experience. Mercedes-Benz Stadium was recently named “most Innovative venue” by Sport Techie and there are plenty of reasons why. Mercedes-Benz Stadium features a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) with over 725 antennas and 1,450 remote amplifiers installed throughout the stadium to evenly distribute strong cellular coverage. This “future ready” DAS utilizes the most LTE capacity available on any AT&T DAS in the state of Georgia at this time. Since we know fans will continue to use an increasing amount of mobile data at the stadium every year, we’ve accounted for that future data demand now. By installing the most LTE capacity available on the DAS at the get-go, it reduces the need for our engineers to go back in and upgrade the DAS every couple of years. Fans will also have access to fast, free Wi-Fi serving the stadium. This may be the fastest dedicated internet connection delivered in any stadium environment. And it doesn’t stop there — the stadium is also home to The AT&T Perch, a special interactive area dedicated to the fans. To further ensure customers have the most seamless experience, they have made temporary upgrades to boost wireless coverage in the Atlanta area.

"We will deploy 1 COW (Cell on Wheels) and 3 COLTs (Cell on Light Trucks). The COW will be located at Falcons Landing and the COLT locations will include MARTA Vine City, Loews Atlanta Hotel, and Glenn Hotel." New technologies are giving fans more ways to enjoy the game—and more ways to share it from their seats.

From AT&T:

"We’re ready to handle this traffic boost by keeping fans connected with our top technology and latest upgrades. So whether you’re rooting for Alabama or Georgia—AT&T has you covered!"
