TAG 'Excalibur Awards' this week

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) has a mission to educate, promote and unite Georgia’s technology community to foster an innovative and connected marketplace that stimulates and enhances a tech-based economy. On Friday, October 20 2017 the TAG Excalibur Awards will be taking place at the Georgia Aquarium (225 Baker St. Atlanta, GA 30313) between 8:00-10:00 AM.

The Excalibur Awards recognize the companies and organizations throughout Georgia that demonstrate the best use of technology, typically provided by a third-party, to solve complex issues and process in business and education. A tech-enabled company may also develop its own non-commercial technology solutions to enhance the business.

The TAG Excalibur Awards has also announced their Keynote Speaker, Nate Morris, founder and CEO of Rubicon Global. Rubicon Global was founded on a bold idea: to disrupt the waste and recycling industry and create less expensive, more sustainable solutions. As chief executive officer, he oversees all aspects of the company.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Rubicon has gained an impressive list of investors as its valuation has grown to more than $1 billion, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Tudor Jones and Marc Beinoff. The company has partnered with the City of Atlanta on an initiative that enables the city’s waste trucks to be deployed by a mobile app.

“TAG is really excited to be able to feature such a visionary leader in disruptive technology,” said Larry Williams, President and CEO of TAG. “The Rubicon story is one of those great examples of how innovation can transform tradition and lead industries along a pathway to evolutionary success. It’s a captivating lesson for us all.”

Morris is also the founder and chairman of Morris Industries, a private holding company focused on the application of technology to the industrial economy. He created the Morris Foundation, which works to improve the lives of Kentuckians through strategic giving. Morris has been recognized as one of the Fortune Magazine’s 40 Under 40, a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and a Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame member.
