DISH announces Alexa voice control

Today at CES in Las Vegas, DISH announced integration with Amazon's Echo and Echo Dot devices. You can ask and tell "Alexa" to change channels and more.

Announcing Alexa voice control for Hopper DVR

DISH is introducing a new Alexa skill that gives customers the ability to control their TV using voice commands. Pair a Hopper DVR (any generation) with an Alexa device like the Echo or Echo Dot. Examples of spoken commands include: “Alexa, go to CNN,” “Alexa, play the Warriors game,” and “Alexa, find Matt Damon movies.” DISH is the first TV provider to announce direct compatibility with Amazon Alexa. In my household, this will be a game changer. Unveiling DISH Music

DISH unveiled DISH Music, a Hopper-driven feature powered by DTS Play-Fi that gives customers with a Hopper 2 or Hopper 3 DVR the ability to sync music throughout their home with one central control. Any room with a connected TV or compatible Play-Fi enabled speaker can become a whole-home sound system, bringing music to new locations throughout the house. DISH Music will be compatible with a wide variety of music services, including Pandora, iHeartRadio and Amazon, as well as personal libraries on mobile devices.
