AT&T Call Protect app to wage war against 'robocalls'
I'm all for putting an end to those annoying robocalls and AT&T may be on to something.
Today, AT&T took a step in the right direction when it comes to these automated calls by announcing a new way to combat those unwanted robocalls. Now, all AT&T wireless customers who have HD Voice on their smartphone can download the new AT&T Call Protect app for free and block unwanted calls. To get AT&T Call Protect, customers simply add the feature to their myAT&T app or download the app from the their app store. This free network-based service provides automatic fraud blocking and suspected spam call warnings through the added feature on myAT&T, plus you get temporary call blocking when you download the free complementary app.
“Nuisance calls are an industry-wide problem that unfortunately affect many people,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device and Network Services Marketing, AT&T. “We’ve listened to our customers and know they want a network that provides tools to proactively assist in blocking nuisance calls. AT&T Call Protect, along with others, will help put customers more in control of the calls they receive.” Also, automatic fraud blocking helps reduce the chances that a customer will become the victim of a phone fraud or scam by stopping these types of calls in the network before they even reach the phone. Suspected spam warnings on the incoming call screen lets customers choose whether or not to answer calls that originate from a suspected spam source. Additionally, those customers who download the complementary app will also receive temporary call blocking, where they can block numbers for 30 days. AT&T Call Protect is an innovation solution that helps our industry take a step forward in the ongoing fight against robocalls. To learn more, visit att.com/callprotect.
