The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It is the proving ground for innovators and a place to present breakthrough technologies where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace. The event is owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association(CTA), which is the trade association representing the $287 billion U.S. consumer technology industry. The CTA announced that actress Aisha Tyler is serving as the CES Ambassador. Aisha Tyler will serve as a bridge between technology and media at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.
Actor, director, author, and comedian Aisha Tyler was announced on November 2 to be the CES Ambassador for 2017. She defines the term multi-hyphenate, by working simultaneously in multiple media formats. The host of CBS’ Emmy-winning The Talk, a series regular on CBS’s Criminal Minds, the voice of superspy Lana Kane in FX’s Emmy-winning Archer, and the host of the CW’s comedy improv show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” are pieces she is involved in. Additionally she is in directing, producing, shooting, and editing multiple short films, music videos, comedy specials, and recently, her first feature film. She states, “ I recently directed my first feature film in just seven days on a microbudget, and technology played into every aspect of completing that creative mission effectively.”
Aisha is also a well known as a one-woman content machine, in engineering, hosting, conforming, and editing through her award-winning podcast Girl on Guy. Aisha’s podcast was chosen by iTunes as a best new comedy podcast of 2011 and has more than 17 million downloads to date. Two microphones, an iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch is the equipment she chose to use to produce and engineer the podcast. Tyler states, “As a podcaster, author, producer and filmmaker, I can attest to how technology has not only made my life better, but more creatively robust, dynamic and productive in every way.”
CES is going beyond just having Aisha Tyler acting as the bridge between technology and media, as they are working on an opportunity to inform people on the impact and influences between the industries. Technology continuously evolves and in turn so does the CES experience and what it offers to attendees interested in the intersection of technology and media. Consumers access content and view advertising, industries seek the opportunity to learn how technology impacts consumer entertainment consumption. The CES program called, C Space, provides a focused setting for those in entertainment, marketing, content, and advertising worlds to understand technology’s influence on these industries.
